Writing. Not the easiest part of school, or life. We know that writing is intended to communicate a message, but how often do we find that writing is more about errors and what needs to be fixed, rather than the development of expressive, thoughtful, and reflective ideas?
What if writing was our only voice. Would we talk if we had to be corrected all the time?
What does it mean to write everyday? Does it mean we have to write new stories everyday? Does writing always have to come from the imagination?
We write everyday to make sense of the world around us. From our history to our personal thoughts; from stories of good times to wishes of what could be, our writing is about getting the idea on paper first. After that, we can explore the power of revision, adaption, or even saving a writing piece for another time. In our classroom, we attempt to make writing a voice behind our thinking, a place to relax, even meditate. A place of peace.
